Project Scope

Accurate Brazing is about to implement a new process and equipment to their branch of plants. A documented, structured approach to risk-management is helpful to ensure the organization is considering the many complex areas of opportunity to ensure solid controls are in place and has a way to capture the tribal knowledge of its experienced staff. For Accurate brazing, this type of risk management documentation will be useful to plan for success in their new processes as well. So, we came up with a professional Process Map, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) chart highlighting the risks and providing recommended actions to Accurate Brazing and a consolidated Control Plan under the guidance of Dr. Dee Ann Wood Kivett.

Duties

  • Scheduled and reported information from cross-functional team meetings including Manager, Supervisor & Associates.

  • Developed a process flow chart for the heating and brazing cycle at Accurate Brazing corporation.

  • Conducted a PFMEA to determine potential risks in the brazing cycle and provided corrective actions to reduce RPN.

  • Formulated a process control plan to ensure that quality checks are performed & the corrective actions are maintained.

  • Generated a savings of about $15,000 every month by reducing scrap and rework of parts.

  • Utilized Statistical Process Control methods to ensure the stability of the process as part of the coursework.
